Happy Halloween My Little Worms… as in bookworms!!

I hope you are all excited about the Autumn weather settling in and the bewitching hour around the corner. For Halloween I am going to a costume party/bake-off which I will be dressing up as R2D2 from Star Wars. Yes, I am a huge Star Wars nerd plus it is the easiest costume to put together with my very busy life. Sadly I did not post my usual What I Read Wednesday last week due the fact that life was busy but also I hadn’t been reading because…you know… life. But this week I am happy to report that I have been reading, so let us get into the list:

Just Finished:

Whispered Echoes by Anne Michaud (Fantasy, maybe YA): Not a huge fan of the book, here is the link to my review – https://acomfychair.wordpress.com/2015/10/27/whispered-echoes-by-anne-michaud-a-review/

Rebel Mechanics by Shanna Swendson (Historical Fiction, Steampunk, YA, Sci-Fi) My first experience with Steampunk fiction and it was really good!! I actually liked it a lot! I think Shanna did a great bending so many genres into one book. Will be sure to write a review on this and looking out for more Steampunk books! Oh if you don’t know: Steampunk is a subgenre of speculative fiction, usually set in an anachronistic Victorian or quasi-Victorian alternate history setting. It could be described by the slogan “What the past would look like if the future had happened sooner.” It includes fiction with science fiction, fantasy or horror themes. (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=steampunk) Gotta love Urban Dictionary!

Currently Reading:

The Witches: Salem, 1692 by Stacy Schiff (Historical, Nonfiction) I may have waited to read this till October because it seemed to fit with the month but I have been so excited to read this! I have heard nothing but good things so I am excited to dive into some history, nonfictional literature. History nerd is happy.

The Determined Heart by Antoinette May( historical, Gothic) This is a modern, fictional portrayal of the life of famous Gothic author Mary Shelley, and how she became the queen of Gothic fiction. Only a few pages in but I am hooked!

TBR:

The Dead Letter by Finley Martin(Mystery, Thriller, Fiction)  I was sent this book as part of a book tour, and I haven’t read much mystery, thrillers as of late so I thought, “oh, why not.”

Popular by Lauren Urasek ( Nonfiction, Technology) An in-depth look at online dating from a women’s perspective, which seems like a great read! I read Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari, and absolutely loved it!! So seeing if this can match it.

So that is it for this week! I’m off to go re-read The Legend of Sleepy Hallow and re-watch The Nightmare Before Christmas & Hocus Pocus, to get into the Halloween Spirit!

What is everyone reading? What are you enjoying? What are you doing for Halloween and are you dressing up? Leave a comment below telling me your book likes and dislikes!

Happy Halloween & Happy Reading!!
