Hello fellow literary junkies!
I would like to welcome you to A Comfy Chair in the Corner; a blog dedicated to everything dealing with the written word and reading. I know what you are thinking… what is with the title? A Comfy Chair in the Corner? How bizarre!! When I explain to you my reasoning behind this title, I know you will come around to my way of thinking. A comfy chair in the corner is my ideal place to sit down after a long hard day and just read. It is my place that I can escape to somewhere new whether it’s reading about Tom Sawyer and his adventures in the Deep South of America, trying to figure out the mystery before Sherlock Holmes does, reading a manual of latest computer software (which I know nothing about by the way) or reading about the life of someone you admire. It is my favorite place to curl up with a good book and allow the novel in my hands to take over. Maybe your place isn’t a chair in your flat but it’s your local coffee shop where you get your fix for a good book, maybe it’s on the Tube going to work allowing the noise around you to drown out as you dive into the words in front of your face, your bed at night with the covers pulled up in your favorite pj’s to end your day or it’s just anywhere you can find to sit and become transform to something other than yourself. This blog is dedicated for those who love to read, for someone looking for a recommendation of the latest books to come out or even a place to get research into a new genre of novels you have never experienced. Books have been around since the 5th century and were written by hand till the printing press came along in the 1440. They were not easy to come by and most of the people could not read them but it didn’t matter. It wasn’t just the books that made a different it was the information and the story telling that made the difference to people. It was the idea of someone deciding to write down a story or information they had heard so that it could live on longer than those who were telling it. Thank goodness we live in a time now where books are easily accessible either by a book store, the internet or even your local library so that we can enjoy those stories of old or new. Now to wrap things up, this blog is dedicated to one of my favorite hobbies and pastimes; reading. I read whatever is put in front of me and I am always on the hunt for the next book to spark my interest or help to gain knowledge where I lack it. I do not have any bias of any genre or author of the literary word and I am willing to give anything a try, well unless it is Hemingway (that is for another blog post). Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy this blog as much as I enjoy putting it together!
